1962 Postcard Sent From School Camp

The area was affectionately known as 'The Strands', as this was the name of the pub. The farmhouse on the right was the place to get the best Lemonade around, and it was also the most unusual, being not only delicious but brown in colour!  The tents were pitched to the rear of the field on the left (behind The Strands), and the gable end of the old School building can be seen to the mid-left of the picture. I (Charlie) observe on the rear of the card that we had climbed Seatallan, Buckbarrow and Middle Fell, so we were obviously being desensitized to prepare us for the 'proper' stuff! It's what turned boys into men (but we still got caned and had to wear caps!).
